Fall Harvest: When the Garden Gives Back

As the leaves turn gold and the nights get crisp, it's time to think about what our gardens have done for us. All those early mornings watering, pulling weeds, and waiting for things to grow—they weren't for nothing. Fall is when we see the payoff. The tomatoes you staked up in June are finally heavy on the vine. The squash you planted in May is ready to store away. Even the soil itself is resting, getting ready to be even richer next spring. That's the beauty of working with the seasons instead of against them. You plant when it's time to plant. You water when things need water. You let things rest when rest is what they need. And then autumn comes around and says, "Look what we made together." This week, when you're out there bringing in the last of it all, take a moment to feel good about that. You earned it.
