Sam's Grill · South Porcupine
South Porcupine sits on Porcupine Lake in the Timmins gold camp — the 1909 Porcupine rush started here and the headframes still mark the skyline. It's a community that knows the difference between a chain that arrives and a family that moves in. We're at 215 Main Street, hand-pressing patties every morning, and the poutine arrives hot enough for a Porcupine winter, which is saying something.
Every Sam's Grill is run by the family that owns it — ours is no different. The Dharmendra family has been behind the counter in South Porcupine since 2025, pressing the patties, learning the regulars' names, and arguing (gently) about whether the Barnyard Burger is the best thing on the board. Come decide for yourself. We opened in December, which everybody told me was the wrong month. People came anyway. I haven't forgotten that. I'm here most days. Come say hello, and tell me how we did.
Meet Dharmendra
Dharmendra runs South Porcupine himself, cooking when it's busy, out front when it isn't. He's from here, so the guests aren't strangers, and he'd rather fix something quietly than hear about it later.
